Minis for My Girl

Two weekends ago was an anniversary with my girlfriend and, her being awesome and all, I had to make her something. My gift, continuing a theme from last year, was making her some Dr Who miniatures, this time the 11th doctor (Matt Smith) and his companion Amy Pond.

And the complete group for full measure. You can find close ups of Mr. Tennant and the Master by clicking here. All of the miniatures (except for the TARDIS) come from Heresy Miniatures, a real quality independent miniatures maker.

So, when special days for your loved ones come calling, have you brought your hobby skills to bear? I'm interested to hear how!

I've been making Christmas ornaments the last 2 years and for Christmas last year I also made my mom a set of nutcrackers - bought them at Michaels, then painted them with each of the seasons, tradition and a time themed one.

Wow... they really didn't try to cover up what they were doing in the slightest, did they? I'm kind of impressed.

Yes - my ninja Stanley knife skills enabled me to make a lovely Valentines' card a few years ago.

Thank you from a geeky girl. This kind of gift is well appreciated.

I'm painting TheDude's MexiMarines this year... hoping to be done by Christmas.

@ Dave G_Nplusplus: Nice!

@ Matthew: Yeah, fairly impressive. Especially dealing with Britain's draconian copyright laws...

@ Admiral Drax: a ninja AND an admiral? There's more to Drax than meets the eye...

@ Loquacious: Thanks! I likes the geekettes.
